Electric Bonsai Band is neither electric nor a band. It's actually singer/songwriter Andrew Ratshin (Uncle Bonsai, Mel Cooleys) and an acoustic guitar. As a solo artist, Andrew has performed in clubs and festivals throughout North America but, for the past 10 years, his focus has been on his group, Uncle Bonsai. For this one night, however, at the request of his daughter -- she's going away for a month -- he'll be performing songs from his five Electric Bonsai Band releases, along with a couple of newer songs. If you like Uncle Bonsai songs, chances are you'll like these.
Performing Songwriter said: "Fresh melodies intertwine with lyrics so completely in- ventive you’ll be shaking your head and laughing at the same time" and "Ratshin hits the bull’s-eye every time, whether he’s setting his sights on growing older or days when he was younger."
Dirty Linen said: "More than most of his contemporaries, he matches a Cole Porteresque ear from rhyme and tone with that rueful eye for the down side of life."
Absolute Sound said: "Ratshin is sensitive without descending into pathos . . . his songs are filled with humor, irony, and neatly turned phrases which overlay rich melodies and quick-cut musical scene changes."
Pretty good, huh? Don't miss this every-once-in-a-while-but-it's-been-a-few-years event! There's limited seating and, as always, you need to bring that seating with you!
